IndyVet Emergency and Specialty Hospital is offering two 2024 Mentorship slots for upcoming new grads interested in beginning their career in emergency medicine. We are seeking mentees interested in completing our 12-month ER Immerse Training Program. Our hospital is busy, but if you are enthusiastic about emergency medicine, we can provide a great training opportunity for you.
A Few Program Highlights
Overall mentorship is 2 years in length. Year 1 is heavy on training, broken into quarters. Clinical time will increase with each quarter - Q1=30% / Q2=50% / Q3=85% / Q4=100%.
Q1/Q2: 20% problem based scenarios, 25% didactic, built-in study time and case reviews. Individualized for each class and offer primary literature to answer questions. You will have protected time to not get pulled away and PBL rounds on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays.
Q3: 2-on/2-off, 3-on/2-off schedule with every-other weekend will begin. Primarily swing schedule with primary case responsibility. You will never be alone to allow for questions and ability to pull experienced ER doctors in.
Q4: 10 shifts/month, block of 8 days off every 2 weeks, on the floor as an ER DVM and you will review cases weekly with the program director.
Year 2: You will be a full-time ER DVM on the FT schedule.
You will receive the Mentee straight salary during the initial first year of training with a substantial increase at year 2, transitioning to a ProSal compensation model that includes production.
