Us: Clearview Animal Hospital (established 1981) is an independently owned small animal general practice. We just completed a major renovation and expansion and are looking for a new associate to grow with us.
You: A practicing veterinarian with a Colorado license (or the ability to obtain one), who enjoys the human and relational aspects of providing GP veterinary care. For a candidate interested in ownership, buy-in or purchase is a future possibility.
Our last appointment ends at five on weekdays and noon on Saturdays. We see scheduled 30-minute appointments with no walk-ins and limited day admissions.
As a clinic, we focus on preventive and proactive care and long-term relationships with clients and patients. We do a lot of thorough medical workups and long-term follow up.
The support staff is skilled and highly leveraged, allowing doctors to focus on “doctor things”.
We have the usual suite of diagnostic and treatment equipment and flexible pharmacy stock - the exact details change, but we have what we need and add or remove things as needs change. There is a lot of room for an associate veterinarian to develop additional special interests in medicine or surgery if desired, and for specialized “toys” as budget allows.
Dr. Jocelyn Whitworth is a 2013 graduate of Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine and a 2002 graduate of Colorado College. There are also a few wonderful long-term regular relief veterinarians who have been helping out in the last few years, and who we hope and expect will continue to do so.
We are looking for a part-time or full-time associate veterinarian to work a regular schedule consisting of at least 2-3 days per week and rotating Saturdays. As we are making a new position and not replacing a departing associate, there is a good deal of flexibility possible in what the associate’s schedule could look like. We want to build an arrangement that will improve quality of life for everyone involved! Depending on the arrangement reached, pay could be hourly, daily, or salary +/- pro-sal. There is future buy-in potential for a candidate interested in a path to ownership, as I would prefer to eventually sell to a human person who wants to keep the clinic independently owned & operated.
LIFE IN COLORADO SPRINGS:
Colorado Springs is ranked by U.S. News & World Report as the second best place to live in the United States. It’s a large enough city and metro area to have all the expected urban amenities, but also has great access to the outdoors and wilderness for recreation.
Our weather is sunny most of the time with nice seasonal variation. (Some snow in winter, some hot days in summer). The climate is relatively dry and the biome is mostly piñon–juniper woodland. We are also prone to significant wind and summer thunderstorms (sometimes with hail). Colorado Springs is convenient for a wide range of outdoor activities including hiking, fishing, climbing, mountain biking, rafting, and skiing/snowboarding within a few hours driving time.
The cost of living is reasonable compared to many places, and Colorado Springs is located about an hour from Denver with all the major city amenities to be found there. Locally in Colorado Springs we have Garden of the Gods, the US Olympic Training Center, and the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (voted third best zoo in North America, with the Rocky Mountain Wild exhibit the second best zoo exhibit in North America). The city is home to the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (the “Race to the Clouds”). Our local minor league baseball team is the Rocky Mountain Vibes playing at UCHealth Park, and our local symphony is the Colorado Springs Philharmonic performing at the Pikes Peak Center (which also hosts many other performances).
