Big Dog Ranch Rescue, located in beautiful Palm Beach County Florida, is seeking a talented, motivated, caring veterinarian with an interest in shelter medicine to assist with the medical/surgical care of the dogs in our facility and supervise the opening our veterinarian clinic for our past adopters. Our recently built 33-acre campus includes cage-free housing for all our residents in comfortable, climate-controlled units. We provide individual cabins for moms and puppies, separate isolation and quarantine facilities, and large enclosed play yards with splash pools. Every effort is made to ensure the comfort and safety of our residents until they are placed in their forever homes.
The medical operation is centered in our brand new 5,000 square foot hospital. This facility is state-of-the-art with a spacious treatment area, fully equipped surgical and dental suites, digital radiography, in-house laboratory, central suction/oxygen, etc. Our support staff is motivated and highly skilled, especially proficient in the areas of neo-natal care, infectious disease treatment surgical support, and emergency medicine.
Our residents are provided with the same level of veterinary care they might receive in a private home. We work with many specialists in our area and provide hospice/foster care for those with long term difficulties.
We are seeking a full-time veterinarian. Interested candidates will be competent in the areas of contagious disease control, neonatal medicine, well care and trauma care. We perform approximately 1,500 surgeries a year (70% spay/neuter, the remainder consists of mass removals, gastronomies, cystotomies, dental procedures, laceration repair, etc.) and surgical competence is important. Florida and DEA licenses are required. The veterinarian will work collaboratively with our medical director, Katie Billmaier, DVM.
As we open the clinic to prior adopters, the ideal candidate will have experience in efficient clinic operations. It is critical that the applicant possess strong interpersonal skills and a great bedside manner.
We offer competitive salary and benefits and the opportunity to do rewarding work in the beautiful South Florida climate.
