We are looking for a REGISTERED Veterinary Technician to join our growing AAHA accredited, Fear Free certified small animal practice in Mooreseville, NC.
The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, works well in a team atmosphere, and has the necessary skill set to work closely with our veterinarians and assist them throughout the day with patients and cases. Our hospital culture is utmost importance and we pride ourselves on low drama and high quality of life for staff.
During the week shifts, the primary focus is surgery and dentistry, as well as management of hospitalized cases. The schedule will include two weekend shifts a month on urgent care.
Harbor Point Animal Hospital opened in September 2016. We are a fear-free certified hospital and are very proud to be the only AAHA accredited hospital in our city. We are located in Mooresville, NC in the heart of beautiful Lake Norman, just 30 minutes north of Charlotte.
We practice excellent medicine and are equipped with digital radiology, cloud-based electronic medical records, in house laboratory, laser surgery, and digital dental radiology.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:
Observing animal patients for changes in behavior
Preparing animals for exams or surgery
Giving animals nursing care or first aid
Collecting and test lab samples
Taking and developing X-rays
Giving medications, shots, or treatments
Collecting and maintaining patient records
Work well with all employees and ensure that your actions support the hospital, the doctors and the practice philosophy

Knowledge of principles and processes for providing client and personal services - This includes client needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of client satisfaction
Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar
Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments. Understand and carry out oral and written direction
Performance Measurements: Performance will be evaluated at the end of the initial 90 day probationary period and annually thereafter. Performance will be evaluated based upon the following: attendance, punctuality, dependability, job performance, client care, teamwork, and progress of job knowledge.

Occasionally handle dogs weighing up to and over 150 pounds. Assistance will be provided by other staff members when working with larger animals.
Other: Veterinary technicians must possess good critical thinking and problem solving skills, compassion, a positive attitude, follow-through and excellent communication and teamwork skills. Multitasking and accepting constructive criticism is essential. Punctuality is expected.

Availability Needs:Harbor Point Animal Hospital will operate between 7:30 am-8 :00pm seven days a week. Full time and part time position availability requirements may vary. Full time position will hold 40 hours a week and schedule may vary and include weekend shifts.

Background Checks: Employment in this position is contingent upon successfully passing a background and criminal history check.
Drug Tests: Harbor Point Animal Hospital is a Drug Free Workplace. All potential employees must submit and pass a pre-placement drug test.
Completion of a two or four year AVMA accredited program with an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in veterinary technology, animal health, or animal science.
At least 1 year prior experience is preferred for Registered Veterinary Technicians but not required. Emergency experience a plus. Experienced non-licensed technicians will be considered.
