SoBran, Inc. is seeking a Cage Wash Supervisor in Boston, Massachusetts.
OVERVIEW: This position is for a Cage Wash Supervisor for the Animal Care Project. It includes activities for the proper care of onsite animals and efficient operation of cage wash. This person will be familiar with the day-to-day activities, employees, and concerns within the facilities; while effectively managing relationships with customers and clients.
Essential Duties of the Cage Wash Supervisor:
Supervises and directs daily activities of cage wash staff to ensure that all required cage wash duties are carried out
Understands and follows appropriate SOPs, safety procedures, and quality assurance standards
Assists in monitoring compliance of daily cage wash requirements and performs quality assurance inspections of assigned areas
Receives, examines, identifies, and transfers incoming shipments of supplies and equipment
Cleans and sanitizes animal caging and accessory equipment
Troubleshoots equipment and maintains and performs routine repairs on caging and racks
Performs routine cleaning, descaling, and preventative maintenance on the cage washers and autoclaves, including checking and cleaning filters and spray manifolds
Processes clean caging and accessory equipment appropriately, including putting bedding into cages and autoclaving cages and supplies
Assists in sanitation and decontamination in all areas of the facility
Prepares, submits, and maintains required cage wash records, charts, logs, and inventories as requested
Assists in development and revision of cage wash SOPs
Maintains clean and organized work and personal areas
Reports any abnormal conditions of the animal facility or immediate vicinity to supervisory staff
Performs other duties under supervision as assigned
Work Schedule: Weekend work is required as scheduled; in addition to extra hours during emergency situations.

HS Diploma or equivalent
ALAT certification required, LAT preferred
4 years of experience in a laboratory animal facility
Previous supervisory experience preferred
Knowledge of disinfectant use and operating knowledge of autoclaves, cage washers, conveyer belts, bedding dispensers, bottle fillers and high pressure & steam cleaning devices is preferred
Must possess the physical strength, dexterity and endurance to lift, pull, push and handle cages, racks, large pieces of miscellaneous equipment, feed & bedding bags and other materials and equipment normally found in a research facility
Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs; bend, stoop, climb and stand for a prolonged period
