The American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF), a national not-for-profit foundation headquartered in Schaumburg, IL, is seeking a Manager of Communications and Promotions.
The AVMF is the charitable arm of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the national not-for-profit association founded in 1863 and currently representing over 89,000 veterinarians nationwide. For over 50 years, the AVMF has been dedicated to the mission of embracing and advancing the well-being and medical care of animals. Charitable contributions and support to the AVMF help veterinarians provide care to animals.
The Manager of Communications and Promotions will report to the Executive Director. This position will be responsible for leading the creation, implementation, and evaluation of all communications and promotional advertisements for the AVMF and AVMF programs, such as the Veterinary Care Charitable Fund, veterinary student scholarships, Our Oath in Action, research grants, and community service activities. The Manager of Communications and Promotions will also be responsible for on-going projects, including the production of print and electronic quarterly newsletters; fundraising direct mail pieces; informational e-blasts; Facebook posts; website updates; advertisements in allied health publications; and AVMF promotional pieces for the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Annual Convention. This position will work closely with the Executive Director and the Senior Manager or Programs and Operations to promote the outcome of AVMF programs and activities to donors and prospective donors.
A bachelor’s degree, with a minimum of 5 years of communications, advertising, copywriting, or marketing experience is required. Non-profit experience is preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, including the ability to work effectively on a team and with diverse individuals. We require working experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office and social media outlets. A successful candidate must be highly organized with extreme attention to detail; able to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously; and have proven leadership and project management capabilities with a “can do” attitude. The flexibility to work outside of regular business hours is required. Up to 5% occasional travel.
