Small-animal hospital in Alexandria, Virginia has an opening for a Licensed Animal Technician. We are located near Mount Vernon Estate close to the Potomac river. Candidate must enjoy helping dogs, cats, coworkers, doctors and clients, must be friendly and compassionate. Duties include: collecting and preparing blood and urine samples, inducing and monitoring anesthesia, radiology, client communication in person and by phone, dental scaling and polishing and nursing care of hospitalized patients. Computer proficiency required. Equipment includes digital radiography (including dental), laser surgery, in house blood work, ultrasound, paperless records and more. All surgery patients are on IV fluids, cardiac as well as blood pressure monitors throughout surgery and dentistry. Ideally, we are looking for a full time technician (10:00 AM till 6:00 pm) and alternate Saturday mornings. New graduates are welcome to apply. Benefits include 100% medical coverage and 401K. Hollin Hall Animal Hospital is a friendly, neighborhood practice that opened in1998 in between the historic sites of Mount Vernon and Old Town Alexandria off the Potomac River. It's an established, upper-middle class community of single family homes. Most of our patients are dogs and cats, but we do see the occasional pocket pet/exotic. Our emphasis is on internal medicine and surgery providin...g personalized care with no boarding of animals. After hour emergencies are referred. The hospital hours are 7:30am-7:00pm Monday through Friday and 8:00am-12:00pm on Saturday. The hospital is equipped with digital radiography (including dental), an in-house lab, CO2 laser, ultrasound and other valuable tools. Two licensed veterinary technicians are on staff. Most appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes with the exception of new patient appointments that are scheduled for one hour. Our emphasis is on quality of time, not on quantity of time. We feel client communication is key to properly caring for our patients and keeping owners happy and we strive to be part of our local community.
